Uncovering Mafia Wars Job Mastery

Friday, November 13th, 2009

If you are concentrating on completing Mafia Wars jobs, you should know it is the safest and fastest way to level up.  I say safe because fights and robbing will get you leveled up fast too, but you’ll probably end up on the hitlist or getting attacked a lot yourself.  Vengeance is not an issue when you are pursuing jobs to collect your leveling experience points.

Experience isn’t the only reward you’ll get from making jobs your primary leveling tool.  You’ll earn money and loot that will help you strengthen your Mafia Wars profile, too.  Loot drops will sometimes contain equipment you can use to arm your crew.  It may be a weapon, armor, or a vehicle in the loot drop.  The loot drops can deliver collection items, too.  Think about the money as a way to acquire more Mafia Mike’s so that you can afford all that new equipment, and jobs will have set you up perfectly to dominate Mafia Wars.

Job and tier mastery will also get you those precious skill points.  Skill points are the life blood of your character building effort.  If you’re most focused with leveling, you’ll direct those points toward energy.  If leveling isn’t your main agenda, spreading those skill points into attack and defense and stamina is another option.

The 1st job tier in Mafia Wars is Street thug, so let’s examine that for our discussion.  The job tiers are linked with certain levels, also.  When you’re in level one through four, Street Thug is your assigned tier.  When you get to level 100+, you’ll be mastering the Boss tier in New York City Mafia Wars. These are the jobs for Street Thug Tier (with job ratio): Mugging (1); Corner Store Hold-Up (1); Warehouse Robbery (1); Auto Theft (1.14); Beat Up Rival Gangster (1); Rob A Pimp (1); Collect On A Loan (1).

That’s the initial set of jobs you can do as a newbie.  In order to go to the next tier, you’ll have to master each job at least once. As a rule, a tier is workable based on your present level and your mastery of the previous tier.  Tiers are composed of more complicated jobs as you go up the tiers.

Returning to our Street Thug example, you’ll have to master each job in the tier.  Get used to picking the best Mafia Wars jobs ratio now by choosing Auto Theft!  You’ll do the Auto Theft job many times to master it.  You’ll notice a blue bar that indicates how you’re doing in mastering the job.  When you’ve mastered Auto Theft, it will be a filled blue bar.  You should get your skill point for mastering  Auto Theft for the 1st time.

Repeat the job mastery process on all the jobs in the tier and you’ll have mastered the tier for the 1x.  You receive  skill point and a title to place with your Mafia Wars name.  ”Street Thug MWname” is your earned title.

Don’t imagine that you’re [finished with those jobs|put all the jobs out of your mind] as soon as you’ve mastered a tier!  Some jobs will give you prime loot, experience, or money.  So you’ll want to do those jobs repeatedly even after you’ve leveled up out of the tier and/or mastered it.  Unless you need the .22 pistol, 9mm, or a Diamond card, Street Thug tier lacks sweet loot, but you take my meaning about doing mastered jobs.

It’s not pointless to master every job in Street Thug for a 2nd time.  The reward for your mastery is eight additional skill points to distribute, a “Skilled Street Thug” title, and a five percent increase in the loot drop for jobs in the thug tier.

Third time through mastery of Street Thug and you earn “Master Street Thug,” with another set of skill points.  You’ll also get 10% extra loot in the Street thug tier.  Best of all, you get 5% experience bonus for any the jobs you do in Street Thug there after.

You’ll also earn the bonus item for 3rd tier mastery.  In Street Thug tier, you get a Pistol Bayonet that increases the damage you dish out in a Mafia Wars fight by 4%.  Each tier has a different mastery bonus item and they are typically VERY nice.

Before you go think of this: When you take the trouble to master every job tier 3 times in NY Mafia Wars, you’ll receive 219 skill points.  Wicked cool!
